We make one small thing well: a fast way to find the right passage across a teacher's whole reading list. Everything else follows from that.
Classical and great-books programs are built on primary sources and on discussion that takes the text seriously. The teacher has read the book, often many times, and leads a room through it. That work is the point. We have no interest in replacing it.
What a teacher needs, again and again, is to remember exactly where a passage lives, and to see it next to the books their students read in earlier years. That is a small, real problem, and it is the one we solve. We point to passages. We do not summarize them, grade them, or explain them.
We try to write and build the way a thoughtful teacher speaks to a respected colleague: plainly, warmly, and with no wasted words. We would rather be the index and the marginalia than the lecture.
The teacher is the expert
We trust the reader’s judgment. We point to high-signal passages and let the teacher decide what matters.
Respect for primary sources
These are texts by named authors, not “content.” We name the translation and the place, and we send you back to the book.
Quiet over loud
No engagement metrics, no urgency, no breathless claims. If the tool helped a teacher prepare a better discussion, that is enough.
